In-home aged care in Australia is funded through two programs — Home Care Packages (Level 1–4) and the newer Support at Home (Classification 1–8). Both are government-funded through My Aged Care. Here’s what each level covers:
| Home Care Package | Annual funding | Who it’s for | Typical supports |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | ~$10,000/year | Basic care needs | Light domestic help, social support, transport |
| Level 2 | ~$18,000/year | Low-level care needs | Personal care, meal prep, domestic assistance, allied health |
| Level 3 | ~$40,000/year | Intermediate care needs | Nursing, physio, OT, personal care, domestic |
| Level 4 | ~$60,000/year | High-level care needs | Complex nursing, clinical care, full personal care, home modifications |
| Classification | Annual budget | Typical supports |
|---|---|---|
| Classification 1 | $11,010 | Light domestic help, occasional cleaning, meals, or transport |
| Classification 2 | $16,451 | Light personal and social care such as showering assistance, shopping, and companionship |
| Classification 3 | $22,537 | Weekly support with hygiene, mobility, meal preparation, and household tasks |
| Classification 4 | $30,469 | Near-daily personal care, medication prompts, and home-safety modifications |
| Classification 5 | $40,730 | Daily assistance with medication, mobility, and routine health monitoring |
| Classification 6 | $49,365 | Regular nursing, physiotherapy, and allied-health services for chronic-condition management |
| Classification 7 | $59,660 | Intensive multidisciplinary support delivered through a coordinated care team |
| Classification 8 | $80,137 | Regular in-home care with clinical and allied-health oversight for complex care needs |

Support at Home (from 1 November 2025) is the government program that replaced Home Care Packages, with eight classification levels of funding for in-home aged care.
Nothing. CareAbout is 100% free for families — we’re funded by our provider partners, never by the people we help.
Yes. You can change providers at any time, and we’ll guide you through the switch and help transfer your funding.
Depending on your level: domestic help, personal care, nursing, allied health, meal prep, transport, social support and home modifications.
The government’s online directory of all registered providers. It lists everyone but doesn’t vet or match — which is where CareAbout helps.
CHSP is entry-level, single-service support; Home Care Packages (now Support at Home) provide a coordinated, higher-value budget for ongoing needs.
